We now offer sharpening services (or to make a blade blunter!). Whether it's ours or not, contact us for logistics details. You can add this to an acrylic knife order for us to add bevels and make it sharper. All steel knives come with the desired level of sharpness at purchase.
We can sharpen both acrylic and steel.
- Blunt grinds can be for blunting a sharp knife, or for re-sharpening a blunted knife. Usually this angle is 45 degrees, which mostly scratches. Care should still be used to avoid unexpected injuries.
- Sharp steel blades can easily cut, usually ground at 15 degrees. Acrylic sharp blades are very fragile, and should only be used for light play, I recommend using steel instead. This level of sharpening for steel also includes an extra final hand sharpening and stropping.
Other Notes:
- We're happy to re-sharpen knives other than our own - feel free to send us your kitchen knives or utility knives that need a touch up too.
- The stock acrylic knives by default is a "flat grind" (90 degrees), with no bevel edge. This "store item" is for putting an actual beveled, ground, sharpened edge on the acrylic. Acrylic is difficult and fragile to grind properly, hence the increased cost. Tbh - I recommend just switching to our stainless steel.
- Mirrored acrylic / electro acrylic cannot be sharpened.
- If you need other metalworking, such as fixing warps, cracks, or more reach out and I can quote it.
- Some pieces are beyond standard repairs - Part of contacting us will be sending a picture of the blade edge. This will eliminate most, but not all cases of an non-repairable blade.
- We can also laser engrave blades and most handle materials!
